Heidi Marie Vanderboom was born on August 21, 2001 in Atlanta, GA. She currently lives with her mom, Rachel Rowell, step-dad, Scott Rowell, and younger sister, Grace Vanderboom. Heidi is a junior at Loganville High School where she is an honor student. During her free time, Heidi enjoys reading, swimming, cooking, and traveling.

Heidi played soccer when she was three, but her mom decided gymnastics was a better sport for her, because she could already do a perfect cartwheel. Heidi's mom enrolled her at Southern Gymnastics in Loganville, GA where she started her first classes. She joined the competitive team at age seven, and stayed at Southern Gymnastics until after her 2012 level 7 meet season.

In 2013, Heidi competed level 8 for her first season with Georgia Gymnastics Academy. At the 2013 GA State Meet, Heidi placed seventh in the all around and qualified to the Region 8 Championships where she placed tenth all around. For the 2014 meet season, Heidi competed level 8 again. She placed third on vault and fifth all around at the 2014 GA State Meet, and qualified to the Region 8 Championships where she placed fourth on bars and sixth in all around.

In 2014, about a month before her first level 9 meet season, Heidi had an avulsion fracture in her hamstring and had to sit out to recover from the injury until the last meet before state. At the 2015 GA State Meet, Heidi was beam and all around champion, and qualified to the Region 8 Championships. In Heidi's second level 9 season in 2016, Heidi won first on beam, floor, and all around at state, and qualified to regionals. At the Region 8 Championships, Heidi was silver medalist on beam and floor and gold medalist on bars and in the all around. Heidi also qualified to the 2016 Eastern Nationals.

In 2017, Heidi badly sprained her ankle after only 3 meets of her first level 10 meet season and was unable to compete in any other meets. In her 2018 level 10 season, Heidi placed 3rd on beam at the Region 8 Regional meet and qualified as an alternate for J.O. Nationals. With only a few days' notice, she was called in for J.O. Nationals and competed for the Region 8 team. She is now currently training for the 2019 senior season and looks forward to her last season in the J.O. program. She trains 20 hours per week at Georgia Gymnastics Academy in Lawrenceville, GA under coaches Judy Prestigiacomo, Mandy Cain, and Annette Kaiser. Heidi is working hard to become a successful level 10 gymnast and obtain a college gymnastics scholarship.
